Advent experience 1: Enchanted Lewes

Hope HumanI love watching the kids get more and more excited in the build up to Christmas. Our eldest is now 10 and I am fully aware that the magic doesn’t last for ever. Although she is still a firm believer, I know it wont be long before the childhood bubble bursts.

Enchanted Lewes

Your ticket to an enchanted adventure

While that magic is still alive I want to do as much as I can to spark their imagination and keep their dreams filled with sparkles. This year I have created an advent tree and each week there is a special treat for us to enjoy as a family.

Week 1 Advent Experience they opened ‘A Christmas Wish’. I had included the picture above of a frog prince with the words ‘your ticket to an enchanted adventure’.

They were very excited!

2015-12-02 17.24.53Enchanted Lewes is a pop up immersive cinema experience at Southover Grange Gardens in Lewes. As it was dark when we left home it was all very mysterious. The kids had some pretty strange ideas of where we were going and seemed convinced it was a midnight forest with giant frogs. Not that far from the truth!

2015-12-02 17.21.30Before we entered the gardens we told them to make a wish. We could hear lots of strange noises coming from inside the garden walls and as we entered clouds of mist helped set the scene.

The experience is a spellbinding stroll through some really impressive light projections and digital media. The first thing they noticed were the hidden faces in the illuminated trees. As we moved round the gardens they created their own magical story from bits of the displayed art and projections.

The house itself is gorgeous. A perfect backdrop for the festival tale. Witches, gingerbread houses, singing birds, mermaids and mysterious eyes watching you.

A lovely festival experience to spark their imagination.

 What did they wish for?

Who knows. But I hope they come true.

Looking forward to next weeks experience already!
