The Big Kahuna Festival – ‘You’re twistin’ my melon man!’
Absolutely gutted we can’t make this one.
It’s not often a new festival is announced that blows the socks off others for me. We’ve done our fair share of partying in a field over the years and now have our firm favourites. It takes a lot for us to be swayed from the festivals we know always deliver, but The Big Kahuna look totally f*****g awesome.
Featuring some absolute blasts from the past for me, I’m sure it’s going to be a weekend to remember. We’ve been offered tickets but won’t be around that weekend so your luck is in.
‘Yippee-ippee-ey-ey-ay-yey-yey!’
So get your Kinky Afro out, read up on The Big Kahuna, and enter the competition to WIN a family ticket to The Big Kahuna Festival 26-28th August in Horsham, Sussex this summer.
The Big Kahuna will hold its first festival in a beautiful pine forest just outside Horsham over the August Bank Holiday. For a launch event, there is some totally amazing music on offer. Less than an hour from both Brighton and London, you can check out plenty of iconic 90’s bands, plus a mix of funk, reggae, soul, jazz and classic house.
Happy Mondays, Boney M featuring Liz Mitchell, The Skints, Toploader, Greg Wilson presents Super Weird Substance, Paul Hartnoll (Orbital), Dub Pistols, Mr C, English Disco Lovers, 808 State (DJ set), Tankus The Henge, Farley Jackmaster Funk, Carnival Collective, Faze Action (Live), Norman Jay MBE, Marshall Jefferson, X-Press 2, Fable, Bushwacka! Utah Saints, Rhythm Masters, Cuban Brothers, The Ska Toons, Tru Thoughts Disco with J-Felix and Wrongtom, Disco Deviant featuring Pablo Contraband and Andy Mac, and Timo Garcia.
Line up includes plenty of personal favourites like Norman Jay (MBE), Mr C, Greg Wilson Presents, Cuban Brothers and the Dub Pistols who blew the roof off at Blissfields last year. PLUS, headliners the Happy Mondays will be taking you right back to the 90’s with a not to be missed performance.
The Big Kahuna is not all about music. With 9 themed areas in the forest, comfortable camping, theatre, adult and kids activities, silent disco, fully themed Frozen cinema, fairly priced food, plenty of bars including a kids bar, interactive arts and crafts experiences, workshops, and loads more.
The Chief Kahuna Village at the heart of the festival will host interactive entertainment, a pottery school, painting classes, bushcraft, circus skills and great food and drink.
The Little Kahuna kids area will feature a fully themed Frozen cinema including falling snow, polar bears, and snowmen. With plenty of entertainment and enjoyment, arts and crafts, face painting, balloon modeling, storytellers and beyond, the kids will be busy all weekend.
Other areas include the ‘Silent Disco’ and the out of this world playground ‘Alice’s Garden’. Expect white rabbits, giant toadstools, human-sized chess pieces, glittering roses in the woods AND a frozen champagne cocktail bar and nitrogen ice cream bar!
The Big Kahuna Festival is the new creation from Fire and Ice Productions who deliver high quality themed events and productions. Expect a full kaleidoscope of colour, decor and some special effects. Set in a stunning forest location The Big Kahuna is bound to be a feast for your eyes whatever you age.
For families, camping is available right next to the carpark so no lugging bags for miles. All the walkways and paths are hardcore so little ones in pushchairs are easy to move around the site. The food is fairly priced with kids portions available. And of course, there is the flippin’ ace line up that even the kids will love!
