Sri Lanka with Kids

Sri Lanka family holiday kids on beachBlink and it’s gone.

We always said we’d travel with our kids. Before they were born we went on a long haul trip every couple of years to discover new horizons. The trouble is, when they arrive everything else gets in the way.

Kuta Beach House Holiday Cottage Sussex

Sussex hot tub rentalWe’ve just returned from possibly the best holiday cottage I’ve stayed in here in the UK. Ticking all the boxes for me, Kuta Beach House in Bracklesham Bay is a perfect place for a luxury spa break with friends or a weeks holiday with the family.

Review: A family tent! Skandika XXL

tent glastoA tent?
Many, many years ago I swore I would never sleep in a tent again. Far too many wet festivals in a crappy 2 man £20 special from Argos. I still have nightmares about sleeping in puddles. One too many freezing nights in a stinky sleeping bag. Never again will I wake up with my face stuck to nylon.

Fairies this Christmas

2014-12-07 14.40.43Daisy has just turned 10.

Time is flying by.

I cherish every day that she still ‘believes in the magic’.

Travel is Education – A Spanish Adventure

family holiday feetWe have just returned from a fab road trip with kids around Northern Spain. Our adventure, like most travel, has taught us all so many things, so I wanted to share them and give the kids a chance to look back at this post and remember our amazing family time together.

Champagne, pies and hot tubs

Elderflower Fields 2014 view

We spent last weekend at Elderflower Fields Family Festival at it’s beautiful new home in Ashdown Forest.

I’ve written about what quality Sussex family fun the festival is in 2012 and in 2013 about letting our flock fly free and spreading their little wings exploring and experiencing this great event.

Although Elderflower Fields is very much billed as the focus being ‘all about the kids’ this year I decided that us grown ups weren’t going to miss out.

Gone but not forgotten

van horse

I have been really quite for a week or so as I have been getting over a loss.

It sounds ridiculous I know.

But anyone who knows us will understand how much we loved the thing we have said goodbye to.

Freedom HA HA

ImageNow that we are firmly back in the ‘real’ word of school, work and all that other boring stuff my heart is starting to sink a little. The seasons are changing and someone has already mentioned to dreaded ‘C’ word.

So I thought I’d cheer myself up on this wet and dreary day and reminisce about where our amazing summer holiday started this year.

Term time holidays? What’s a mum to do?

ImageIt’s a moral dilemma I’m sure every parent has faced over the years so why did I find it so hard?

We have decided to visit my sister next year. She lives on the other side of the world so it’s not a family holiday we are going to do very often. In fact, it’s unlikely that we are going to make it again during the time my kids are still at school.

And relax…(all-inclusive holidays)

After a super relaxing holiday with the kids (yes, you heard me right, WITH the kids and RELAXING) we returned last week feeling deservedly rested.

This year has been tough. Much as I love my adorable 2 year old, she is, what some refer to as ‘challenging’.

Pontins – not for the faint hearted

Well, my very first blog. Inspired by my amazing friend Maddie who is (and always will be) way ahead of me in the world of technology.
outsideI somehow managed to talk some friends in to a weekend at Pontins Camber Sands. £39 for a family of 4. Anyone that knows me knows that I’m a bargain hunter but this was ridiculous – £3.25 per person per night. Right?
